Tenerife Photo Diary

I was lucky enough to kick off the year with an unexpected, spontaneous week in sunny Tenerife with my family which definitely beat my January blues. From dips in the pool to reading Blogosphere on the balcony, the trip was everything I needed to rejuvenate and relax. It also gave me a great opportunity for another photo diary blog post, so I hope you enjoy looking at my snaps as much as I enjoyed taking them…

After a chilled few first days, I got my camera out for the first time since arriving to capture the sights of our tuk tuk tour. Our guide took us to some picturesque sites and stopped at the top of a seaside village for some photo opportunities, where the light was working very much in my favour, making for some of my favourite photos of the holiday.

We liked the tour so much, we booked to take another route the next day, which went to the Isle of…FERNANDOS! Although I didn’t actually see anywhere from ‘Take Me Out’, there were some stunning views of the vast hills and we were treated to a fresh fruit smoothie made by our guide at a local farm shop to refresh us half way through the tour.

After our two successful tuk tuk rides, we swapped wheels for sails and took to the water in the hopes of seeing some marine mammals. We did catch a glimpse of some sleeping dolphins, however the whales were no where to be seen. I did manage to get some good snaps throughout the day though, and the open water breeze bronzed me up which was a bonus.

We didn’t spend long there as it was very hot and busy, so we headed to a local coffee shop for some shade and rest after we’d done all of our shopping.

Despite all of our exciting day trips to mountains and markets, my favourite part of the trip by far was settling down on our very generously sized, white marble balcony after a shower, feeling bronzed, with a gentle breeze hitting me, reading Blogosphere magazine and taking in the sunset. One night I had a moment of complete contentment, I realised what a lucky and privileged position I’m in; I’ve just had an amazing year, I’ve come into 2018 with a loving family, financial stability, two holidays booked, a blog to put my creative energy into and future plans I’m truly excited about- I have everything I could possibly want and need.

This holiday gave me the opportunity to take life slowly, live in the moment and give my mind a rest, and it really has put me on the right track for the rest of the year. I hope you enjoyed the photos, there’ll be a lot more coming from my second holiday of the year in two weeks… Megan x
